Heybridge Co-Operative Academy, previously Heybridge Alternative Provision School (HAPS) is part of the Keys Co-Operative Academy Trust, a charitable company. The Academy is based in Heybridge, Essex and has 115 pupils aged 11-16. Students who attend HCA have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school.
Directions has been delivering Careers Information, Advice & Guidance at the school since 2012.
“Emma has been supporting Heybridge Co-operative Academy (HCA) for three years and has become an invaluable member of the careers team. Emma holds a monthly surgery supporting pupils with whatever they need, whether it be a careers action plan, interview skills, a CV or support with an apprenticeship application. As well as first class information, advice and guidance, Emma will always go over and above what is expected of her and send hot off the press news and updates that she feels are relevant to the needs of our pupils. Being a pupil referral unit, pupils often find it difficult to engage with new people or refuse to have conversations about their future. However Emma makes the pupils feel at ease and will often focus and support with overcoming barriers. Emma never limits young people’s options and ensures the pupils receive aspirational, qualified, informed and impartial information advice and guidance.”
